Proving how popular the drama is‚ a television station in Nanjing offered Kim a chartered flight and roughly 490-thousand U.S. dollars just to have him appear in an entertainment show there.
The drama's popularity has also made an impact on the food business in China‚ following one episode where Jun said that "fried chicken and beer are a good match for a snowy day."
Since then‚ fried-chicken-and-beer sets have been selling like hotcakes.
One chicken chain there said it saw its sales rise more than 50 percent in February from the previous month.
Korean soap operas also emerged as a hot topic in an annual Chinese political event.
According to Beijing News‚ a top Communist Party leader said during a legislative session that Korean dramas are ahead of China's‚ causing the party's political advisory body to spend hours discussing why Chinese production companies can't make dramas that are as good and as popular as Korea's.
Here in Korea‚ experts believe the drama has helped revive the Korean Wave in China after a decade of waning interest.
