Korea's Special Weapons and Tactics‚ or SWAT‚ teams exchange heavy fire with terrorists in the heart of Seoul.
But there's no need to worry‚ as it's one of many mock exercises that law enforcement officers are taking part in these days to hone their skills and ensure a steady hand under pressure.
In this particular scenario‚ an innocent civilian is caught in the cross-fire and now requires an urgent rescue.
SWAT units cover each other to reach the injured bystander but are also to forced to rapidly adapt to the situation with wounded teammates.
Fortunately‚ police forces are able to outmaneuver and overwhelm their attackers in order to call in an emergency helicopter to evacuate all necessary personnel to the nearest hospital.
Despite the deafening blasts of gunfire and bloody confrontations‚ the whole training exercise took less than 15 minutes to complete.
The high intensity rounds test the mettle of even the toughest officers‚ forcing them to rely on their training in order to make life and death decisions in the blink of an eye.
"Since police SWAT operations can be a very dangerous place‚ doctors and paramedics are not able to enter the perimeter. As a result‚ officers in these operational units need to be able to perform first-aid to save lives."
The goal of these programs is to reduce the loss of life during large-scale acts of terrorism‚ should they occur.
However police officials say the national response system is incomplete and plans to ask the government to expand support for emergency crews.
