Korean electronic companies are doing better than expected in the second quarter of 2009.
Samsung Electronics the world's largest electronics company is expected to turn out an operating profit of about 1.5 trillion won or over one billion US dollars.
That is more than double the amount that security firms predicted earlier in the year.
Analysts say the reasons include the belief that the prices of DRAM and NAND flash memory chips are set to increase along with the prices of liquid crystal display TVs.
Company officials say that sales of home appliances such as air conditioners have also increased as summer approaches.
The operating profits of another electronics giant LG Electronics are also expected to be higher than previously forecast.
Domestic security firms now predict that LG will report a record high profit at the end of the second quarter of nearly 7-hundred-million dollars.
Analysts say that sales of mobile phones and TVs have been the keys to the company's success.
LG has secured its position as one of the top three cellphone makers in the world and its market share of televisions has stepped up into second place replacing Japan's Sony.
For the time being however it is still Samsung Electronics that leads the market.
