The Asian Development Bank raised its 2006 growth forecast for Asia's developing economies.
The Manila-based bank expected the Asian economy excluding Japan to expand 7.7 percent this year‚ compared to the earlier forecast of 7.2 percent.
The major driver is sizzling growth in China and India‚ which together account for more than half of the region's gross domestic product.
The ADB called on Asian nations to stimulate investment‚ and better cope with potential shocks to their economies like high oil prices.
The growth forecast for Korea‚ meanwhile‚ was unchanged at 5.1 percent as it continues to face weak domestic demand.
