Equity markets around the world have been starting the new year on a strong note‚ but markets in Korea‚ Taiwan and New Zealand are lagging slightly behind.
The Korea Exchange says major stock indices in 43 countries have posted 5 percent average growth so far this year.
Notably‚ indices‚ in Europe‚ Africa and the Middle East‚ which grew remarkably over the past two years‚ are maintaining their top positions‚ with more than 6 percent growth so far.
Bucking the upward trend‚ Korea's KOSDAQ index fell 5 percent and the KOSPI‚ 0.4 percent.
The KOSDAQ posted the biggest expansion last year among major indices at 84 percent.
