North Korea could wage war against the South without a consent from its allies China or Russia.
This‚ according to the head of South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff Choi Yun-hee.
The remarks came during a parliamentary audit Tuesday when Choi was asked by a ruling party lawmaker when and under what conditions a war could break out on the Korean peninsula.
The top military commander responded that Pyongyang could instigate a war if it thought its security was being threatened‚ if there was a change in the current military status quo between the two Koreas‚ or if there was a fracture in the South Korea-U.S. alliance. Reporter : jiwonpark@arirang.co.kr
