A recent survey shows that seven out of ten Japanese people consider Korea's easternmost Dokdo islets as Japanese territory.
According to a survey conducted by Japan's Hiroshima City University last year of some 4-hundred Japanese residents and college students‚ 67-percent of respondents said that the islets‚ known in Japan as Takeshima‚ belong to Japan.
The islets are claimed by both Japan and Korea.
A professor from the university explained that the Japanese people have been paying more attention to the country's territorial disputes in recent years‚ and said the claim that the Japanese are less attentive to the conflict than Koreans are has lost ground.
