The powerful typhoon Bolaven is on course to hit the Korean peninsula early this week.
Authorities are bracing for the worst-case scenario‚ and they are conducting safety inspections of areas prone to landslides.. and blocking off dangerous areas such as seawalls and beaches.
The typhoon is expected to be the most powerful storm in Korea in a decade.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration‚ the typhoon is expected to approach the waters off Korea's southern island of Jeju‚ on Monday and hit the island with heavy downpours and winds.
The storm is large in scale with a maximum wind speed of 53 meters per second.
Officials say the storm could remain that strong until late Tuesday.
Typhoon Bolaven is set to make landfall in Okinawa‚ Japan before reaching Korea.
