The Japanese government says it will not change its newly adopted textbooks that claim Korea's Dokdo islets as Japanese territory‚ despite protests by the Korean government.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday‚ Japan's Chief Cabinet Secretary Osamu Fujimura said Japan will not accept Korea's requests‚ and will deal with the matter in a consistent manner.
The Kyodo News reported Wednesday‚ that the number of Japanese textbooks claiming Dokdo as Japanese territory is rising.
All seven geography textbooks submitted for screening claimed Takeshima‚ the Japanese name for Dokdo‚ as Japan's territory.
They are to be used in Japanese high schools starting next spring.
