It doesn't look like the much-debated Dokdo Islets issue is simmering down anytime soon‚ as the Korean government has urged Japan's foreign minister to retrieve his comments about Korea's easternmost territory.
Korea's Foreign Ministry Spokesman Cho Byung-jae criticized Japanese Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba‚ on Wednesday‚ for his Dokdo statements‚ falsely claiming Japan's sovereignty over the islets.
Cho also said Gemba needs to quickly take back his remarks as Dokdo is quote‚ "Korean territory historically‚ geographically and under international law."
Seoul's foreign ministry has asked Japan's Deputy Chief of Mission to Korea to deliver Korea's objection to the Japanese government.
