In his radio address on Monday‚ which was recorded as he was returning home from his week-long European trip the previous day‚ he emphasized the importance of establishing an international foundation for a unified country and becoming a leading nation in green growth.
President Lee added that his three-nation European visit that took him to Germany‚ Denmark‚ and France was part of such efforts.
He stated that the future belongs to those who prepare for it and that Korea has already begun preparations and is winning support and recognition from around the world.
President Lee also summed up his trip by saying that it served as an opportunity to bolster economic cooperation with key European nations ahead of the Korea-European Union free trade agreement that is set to take effect on July 1st while also highlighting the country's commitment to green growth and reunification with North Korea.
He said that in Berlin he was given the chance to learn from Germany’s experience in reunifying the East and West to help South Korea better prepare for reuniting with the North.
In Copenhagen‚ President Lee forged a “green growth alliance” with Denmark for close cooperation in the development of renewable energy and environment-friendly technologies.
And while in Paris‚ President Lee said that Korea and France adopted a joint statement on the G20 summit in the French city of Cannes‚ which agreed to implement all the commitments agreed to at the Seoul G20 Summit last year and work out specific and practical measures to reduce food and energy price volatility‚ while also enhancing transparency.
