We begin with some news of relief
The Korean government announced Monday that no radioactive material from the Fukushima nuclear plant has been found in domestic agricultural or fishery products.
The Ministry for Food‚ Agriculture‚ Forestry and Fisheries says it conducted inspections on 58 types of produce and fish including spinach‚ lettuce‚ squid‚ mackerel‚ and pollack‚ finding no traces of radioactive material such as cesium or iodine in any of them.
Livestock products‚ including raw milk produced in areas around the East Coast and the Demilitarized Zone‚ will also undergo radiation checks from this week.
To ease people's fears over contaminated food‚ the ministry will continue inspections on domestic food products as well as those imported from Japan.
