Members of the clergy in Korea are expected to live the longest‚ while journalists have the shortest life expectancy according to a report on 12 different kinds of jobs.
Clergy‚ including monks‚ priests‚ and pastors‚ are expected to live to 80 on average‚ followed by politicians and professors at 75 and 74 years of age‚ respectively.
Journalists‚ writers‚ and athletes‚ meanwhile‚ have the lowest life expectancy as they die at an average of 67.
Researchers point out some of the reasons behind the longevity of the clergy include peace of mind‚ abstaining from smoking and drinking and healthy family relationships.
The research team led by Professor Kim Jong-in at Wonkwang University used around 3‚200 death reports and obituaries between the years 1963 and 2010 for this report.
