A bill that aims to put North Korea back on Washington's state sponsors of terrorism list is currently under review at the US Congress.
Radio Free Asia says a bipartisan group headed by the House Foreign Affairs Committee chair Ileana Ros-Lehtinen submitted the legislation on Friday‚ that calls the North's military attacks on South Korea last year as acts of international terrorism and a serious provocation.
The lawmakers have set a dozen requirements North Korea will have to meet to be taken off the blacklist such as apologizing to the South Korean government and its people for the attacks‚ a suspension of its missile and nuclear programs and a release of some 6-hundred prisoners of war.
The former Bush administration had taken North Korea off the list back in 2008.
