Conflict over the disputed islands of Senkaku‚ as they are known in Japan‚ or Diaoyu ‚ as they are known in China‚ has sprung up again between Tokyo and Beijing.
According to Japanese news reports‚ two Chinese air force reconnaissance aircrafts flew within 50 kilometers of the islands on Wednesday‚ prompting the Japanese Self Defense Force to deploy F-15 fighters in response.
The reports add‚ however‚ that the Chinese aircraft did not encroach upon Japanese airspace and quickly turned westward.
This incident follows the recent clash over a collision between a Japanese coast guard vessel and a Chinese fishing boat in September last year.
