The Korean fishing boat Geummi 305 released from Somali pirates last week is expected to arrive at the Kenyan port city of Mombasa on Monday.
Seoul's foreign ministry says the fishing vessel's speed has increased to eight nautical miles or about 15 kilometers per hour and is being escorted by the European Union fleet's Finnish Navy warship.
Two government officials‚ meanwhile‚ were sent to Kenya on Saturday to offer medical assistance and conduct an investigation into the hijacking and release of the Geummi and its 43 crew members.
And the two Korean fishermen will receive administrative support if they express wishes to return to Korea.
