The European Central Bank kept its benchmark interest rate at a record low of 1-percent for the 20th consecutive month.
The ECB's decision on Thursday was widely expected and experts predict the rate will remain unchanged for quite some time due to ongoing concerns over Europe's financial instability.
The ECB has cut its key interest rate by 3-and-a-quarter percentage points since the global financial crisis in 2008.
The president of the bank said that evidence of short-term upward pressure on overall inflation in the Eurozone mainly due to energy prices has not affected the ECB's assessment of price developments but added that very close monitoring is warranted.
