President Lee Myung-bak has pushed for the Korean government's full effort to get an overall view of factors behind the inflationary pressure and look into measures to help stabilize consumer prices.
Presiding over the weekly economic strategy meeting on Thursday President Lee stressed the need to examine whether oil prices in the domestic market are at a reasonable level by closing monitoring the fluctuations in oil prices and exchange rates since oil prices have a great impact on the overall economy.
The President also called on his officials to stabilize housing prices by supplying more smaller homes to meet new residential trends such as an increase in the number of one-person households.
