Say goodbye to boring exercises!
This fitness center in Gangnam places great emphasis on having fun while working out.
The members are marking their spots on a sign-up sheet before entering a room‚ like choosing a seat at the theater.
And then a man clad in cycling clothes soon appears. He certainly seems out of place!
[Interview : PD] "Hold on! What are you about to do[Interview : Choi Jang-gu‚ Instructor] "There's this strenuous exercise called Extreme Cycling‚ through which you can burn 700 to 800 calories in one hour. Come with me to see what it's about."
He enters the room filled with people perched on stationary bikes‚ waiting for the workout session to start.
A session of extreme cycling begins as soon as some groovy music blasts out of the speakers.
This is in sharp contrast to the mere pedaling that people often do on stationary bicycles. It feels as if one is actually out on a group ride.
[Interview : ] "Extreme Cycling is a program that brings cycling‚ which is an outdoor exercise‚ indoors and allows people to cycle to lively music as part of an arduous workout."
[Interview : ] "Let's all stand up while pedaling. Imagine overtaking the person in front of you. Let's go!"
Although they are cycling in one spot‚ pedaling energetically as a group makes the participants feel as if they are riding their bicycles at full speed.
[Interview : ] "Sweat! Water! This is great!"
The time that used to pass by so slowly when they were working out on their own is now just speeding by.
[Interview : ] "The advantage of Extreme Cycling is that it is a demanding exercise that burns a lot of calories‚ and at the same time‚ it can be enjoyed by all because the level of resistance and speed can be set individually."
After an hour of this strenuous yet fun cycling workout‚ the participants are all drenched in sweat but feel much lighter.
[Interview : ] "Extreme Cycling! 700 calories!"
[Interview : Choi Jin-yeung‚ Member] "It's great that I can work out with others in such a fun way."
[Interview : Kim Sou-min] "Because there is someone to guide me‚ I can work out steadily until the end without giving up."
With more male celebrities boasting perfectly shaped six-pack abs‚ many men have turned to this exercise to get in shape.
Ordinary exercises can only result in a mediocre body shape. So what exercise should people turn to[Interview : PD] "I heard that there's a unique exercise here."
[Interview : ] "Oh‚ that[Interview : Seo Jae-won‚ Instructor] "This exercise involves martial arts‚ combining disciplines such as taekwondo and hapkido."
Because more than two different martial arts disciplines have been combined‚ the level of intensity has also been heightened to a whole new level.
[Interview : Seo Jae-won‚ Instructor] "This move links the kick moves from both taekwondo and hapkido."
Just watching the complex foot moves is enough to leave one breathless. Because the exercise integrates only the most dynamic moves of martial arts such as taekwondo‚ the workout session is filled with both speed and intensity.
[Interview : Jeong Sang-min‚ Member] "I used to be overweight when I was young. But this exercise brought many positive changes to my body."
[Interview : ] "Could you show us your body[Interview : ] "Sure."
Just a year of this workout will give you this perfectly chiseled body!
[Interview : Jeong Sang-min‚ Member] "One year of practicing mixed martial arts diligently will get your body in a better shape than even mine."
Sticking to one discipline is now considered a thing of the past. Learning the mixed martial arts can result in the six pack abs that so many men want.
[Interview : Seo Jae-won‚ Instructor] "Mixed Martial Arts is as strenuous as it is fancy. But the level of achievement that is felt at the end of a workout session will be higher than that
