A CNN report quoting European intelligence officials says a group of jihadists from Hamburg‚ Germany are at the center of the recent al Qaeda plan to launch commando-style terrorist attacks against European cities.
The plot was revealed by Ahmed Siddiqui‚ a German-born Muslim who was trained by al Qaeda and arrested in Afghanistan last July. He attended the same mosque in Hamburg as the 9/11 lead highjacker and said the attack would be like the one in Mumbai in 2008‚ when terrorists targeted random civilians with automatic weapons.
According to German intelligence officials… about 200 people have left the country to get training in Afghanistan since 9/11 and most of them have returned.
Major European cities like London‚ Paris and Berlin were put on high alert after the reports.
