Korean President Lee Myung-bak left for Brussels‚ Belgium Sunday morning to attend the 8th Asia-Europe meeting or ASEM slated for October 4th and 5th.
Under the theme "Quality of Life" the biennial gathering is expected to cover pending issues and challenges of wide international interest including global economic governance‚ regional security and the future of ASEM.
On the sidelines President Lee is scheduled to hold a bilateral summit with Belgium's Prime Minister Yves Leterme and attend a state dinner hosted by King Albert the second of Belgium.
President Lee Myung-bak will also hold a one-on-one with the European Union and attend a signing ceremony for the Korea-EU free trade agreement which is to take effect next year.
