Despite Moody's downgrade Portugal managed to raise nearly 1.7 billion euros in a bond auction.
The more than 2 billion US dollar debt auction comes amid worries that Portugal could fall into a financial tailspin similar to Greece's.
According to the country's Public Debt Management Agency the bonds are due in 2012 and 2019 at an average interest yield of 3.2 percent and 5.3 percent‚ respectively.
For now prospects remain grim for Portugal as the debt-to-GDP ratio is expected to hit 90 percent before stability sets in and this year's growth is forecast at 0.5 percent.
