Six Korean tourists were among the wounded in a mass shooting at a popular tourist spot in the Pacific resort island of Saipan Friday morning where an armed gunman fired into a crowd of people killing at least four and wounding eight.
The Foreign Ministry in Seoul says one of the Korean victims was shot in the back‚ while the others were slightly wounded.
According to the Saipan Tribune‚ there were two separate shootings in other areas of the island that involved the same gunman an Asian in his 30s or 40s believed to an employee at a shooting range there.
He is among the dead having turned the gun on himself after the shooting.
Authorities are trying to determine the motive behind the killings.
