Crude oil produced in Siberia will be supplied to Korea and the Asia-Pacific region for the first time during the latter half of next year.
Russian authorities say the planned oil supply will begin as soon as the ongoing construction of a pipeline connecting Eastern Siberia with the Pacific Ocean is completed.
For Russia‚ the plan will diversify its supply lines which are now concentrated in Europe and speed up development of the Siberian oil reserve.
For Korea it means a cheaper alternative source of crude.
It currenly relies heavily on the Middle East for oil supply.
