The White House urged North Korea to return to the six-party nuclear dialogue table after the communist country vowed to "never again" take part in the nuclear disarmament negotiations.

Secretary Gibbs said Pyeongyang must live up to its word by verifiably scrapping its nuclear program as agreed in previous nuclear talks.
Gibbs also said the United Nations Security Council's presidential statement on Monday which condemns North Korea backs US President Barack Obama's recent remarks on nuclear non-proliferation saying that "rules must be binding‚ violations must be punished and words must mean something."
In response to Pyeongyang's decision to banish American nuclear experts from the country US State Department Spokesman Robert Wood said it is a "step backward" and the move will further isolate North Korea from the outside world.

US State Department] "The North will have to deal with‚ in taking these decisions‚ the North is going to have to deal with the consequences of such decisions."
When questioned about exactly what these consequences are spokesman Wood is said to have avoided going into detail.
The State Department official shrugged off allegations that Washington's foreign policy on North Korea failed to bring the communist country back to the nuclear talks since they were suspended in December.
Mr. Wood contends the failure lies with North Korea because it could not keep its end of the denuclearization bargain.
