President Roh Moo-hyun began his third day in Mongolia‚ by meeting with Prime Minister Miyegombin Enkhbold at the government palace in Ulaan Baatar.
The Korean leader pledged to support expanded employment opportunities for Mongolians in Korea.
Then he met with National Assembly Speaker Tsend Nyamdorj and asked the Mongolian government to open its doors to more Korean companies.
Right before lunch‚ President Roh and First Lady Kwon Yang-sook visited a Korean-Mongolian hospital that was built in 2001‚ with funding from both governments.
He delivered words of encouragement to the doctors and employees there‚ and donated an ambulance in the hopes of boosting friendship between the two countries.
And later at an outdoor cultural event‚ President Roh was presented with a pair of horses.
President Roh wrapped up his day meeting 2 thousand Koreans living in Mongolia.
He emphasized how both economies could benefit from each other‚ by combining Mongolia's vast amounts of natural resources with Korea's high-tech industry.
"President Roh's visit to Mongolia is part of the Korean government's efforts to expand its diplomatic reach to the Central Asian region. The Korean leader heads off to Azerbaijan on Wednesday afternoon for what's being called in Korea‚ energy diplomacy.
