Zambia is in a state of mourning after its leader‚ President Michael Sata passed away‚ following a period of deteriorating health.
Authorities say his wife and son were by his bedside when the 77-year-old died at London's King Edward the 7th hospital late Tuesday night.
Sata who served as the country's leader since 2011 had disappeared from public view months ago. The government did not publicize his health condition.
