Peru withdrew its ambassador to Bolivia on Monday in protest against Bolivian President Evo Morales‚ calling the violence on June 5th in Peru a "genocide."
At least 30 people have been killed in recent clashes between police and indigenous protesters.
And in Bolivia‚ an estimated crowd of 3-hundred demonstrators‚ many from indigenous groups‚ poured out on to the streets of the capital La Paz yelling "no more massacre!"
[Interview : ] "We support our brothers in Peru that have lived through complete massacre and that is why we support our brothers. May there be no more massacres‚ no more violence against the people who are only defending their rights."
Amazon Indians in Peru have been blocking roads and rivers for two months over two land laws signed last year in order to implement a free trade agreement with the United States.
The government believes the decrees will boost the economy by opening the jungle to billions of dollars in foreign investment.
[Interview : ] "We have acted in a calm and serene manner and we are delivering what the country needs."
The Peruvian government Monday promised the indigenous protesters a conciliatory move by asking Congress to revoke the controversial land decrees‚ which the Indians strongly believe would speed up the destruction of the Amazon rainforest.
