Turning to the situation in Mongolia:
An election that took place over the past weekend has led to large scale demonstrations in the Mongolian capital.
Lee Jeewon tells us the government has announced a state of emergency.
The Mongolian government has imposed a four-day state of emergency in the capital Ulan Bator.
With a decree by President Nambaryn Enkhbayar‚ parts of Ulan Bator are under curfew from 10 PM to 8 AM.
Public gatherings and independent media broadcasts have also been banned.
Up to 6-thousand protestors took to the streets on Tuesday‚ alleging that the June 29th election was rigged.
The ruling Mongolian People's Revolutionary Party won 41 out of 76 seats in the parliament while the opposition Democratic Party won 25.
Supporters of the opposition party set part of the ruling party's offices on fire and threw rocks at the police.
The police in turn fired rubber bullets and tear gas at them.
Both parties' main focus during the election campaign was how to best utilize newly-discovered mineral deposits.
According to multinational mining company Rio Tinto Group‚ the Oyu Tolgoi mining area is the world's largest undeveloped copper-gold resource.
Under Mongolian law‚ the government can hold up to a 50-percent interest in such deposits if state funds are used in the discovery process.
But a proposed change would give the government‚ a minimum 51-percent stake.
While the ruling party wants to keep that stake‚ the opposition says private firms should be able to have it.
With Sunday's win‚ the ruling MPRP will have its way‚ assuming it can calm the restless population.
