Freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall in eastern Europe led to the deaths of at least 13 people over the weekend‚ and there's no let up in sight.
Seven people died in the Czech Republic where temperatures dipped to below minus-20 degrees Celsius‚ while four people died in Croatia‚ which is trying to dig itself out from the heaviest snow storm it's seen in 57 years.
Some 110 centimeters of snow fell on Romania‚ which made things difficult for voters trying to cast ballots in the nation's parliamentary election on Sunday.
Weather forecasters expect the lower-than-average temperatures to continue in the region throughout the rest of the week.
