Experts say that following recent but separate bilateral summits among South Korea‚ the U.S. and China‚ the joint declaration will have significance in ramping up pressure against the nuclear state. The Presidents of South Korea‚ the U.S. and China had promised to support a peaceful Korean peninsula‚ calling on the North to refrain from provocations. The joint document is also expected to underscore the importance of facing history‚ referring to Japan's historical tensions with neighboring countries.
