The president of Iran and the Pope met in Rome where‚ according to the Vatican‚ they agreed to fight terrorism and work toward peace. It's the first meeting between an Iranian leader and a pontiff in 17 years and follows the lifting on international sanctions on Iran last month. President Hassan Rouhani is on a four-day trip to Italy and France as he attempts to rebuild Iran's ties with the West. Rouhani said he and the Pope agreed on many issues. (FARSI) "We also talked about the need to fight against violence‚ extremism and terrorism. We talked about the need to have a world free from violence‚ extremism and terror." The Vatican said the Pope asked Rouhani about the promotion of human dignity and freedom of religion. It's a sensitive issue for Tehran which has been criticized for its human-rights record. Rouhani told journalists before leaving for Paris it's "right" for people to have freedom of speech‚ but "not right" for people to encroach on other people's rights.
