요약정보
The German government - in an official document - has openly referred to the historic mass-extermination of the Herero and Mamaqua tribes-people back in 1904 when more than 100-thousand people died‚ as an actual "genocide‚" according to the daily Frankfurter Rundschau. A German foreign ministry spokesperson also announced on Wednesday local-time that the country is planning on a "joint-government declaration" with the Namibian government to apologize for its actions in the African nation. However‚ she indicated that the formal apology does not translate to actual reparations‚ and does not have any legal binding as of now. Historians who have followed Germany's postwar behavior‚ as well Japan's relationship with Korea since the Second World War‚ say that the recent news from Europe should be interpreted as a positive catalyst. ( ‚ Korean) "Germany has apologized to its immediate neighbors like Poland a long time ago‚ and is now recognizing countries that are much further off as well‚ for an incident that occurred more than 100 years ago. Based on this example‚ I think that Korean people must continue to make their voices heard to the Japanese government. " German sources have added that the government will continue its parliamentary resolution with Namibia and finalize its stance regarding the massacre before its 2017 federal election.
