Building owners who install energy-efficient district cooling system here in Korea can now get subsidies.
This according to the Korea Energy Management Corporation.
A district cooling chiller with a capacity of 200RT will qualify for a one-time subsidy of 70-thousand won per RT‚ that's roughly where 1 RT can cool a space measuring roughly 23 square meters.
And the amount of subsidies per RT goes down as the chillers' capacity goes up.
Typically a large supermarket would use two 500RT cooling units.
Currently around 5-hundred-30 buildings and roughly 1-hundred homes in Korea have the district cooling systems installed.
