A new survey released in time for International Women's Day‚ shows that roughly one out of seven members of parliament in Korea is a woman.
The Inter-Parliamentary Union's survey found that women in Korea's parliament make up 14.7 percent of the National Assembly‚ ranking 80th among the 155 countries surveyed.
Northern European countries topped the list with an average of nearly 42 percent while Arab states were at the bottom with 12 percent.
The worldwide average stood at just over 19 percent.
