And as part of its efforts‚ the county kicked off a nine-day snow festival this week while the International Olympic Committee's evaluation team is here for its on-site inspection.
The 'Daegwallyeong Snow Festival' is the largest annual winter event in Korea that showcases a splendid mix of ice and snow as well as various exhibitions.
Daegwalleyong‚ often referred to as "the Alps of Asia‚" is one of the country's top tourist destinations during the winter‚ but this year visitors had more than just snow on their minds.

And it also includes some very rare winter sports that you probably cannot find anywhere else like snow rafting and traditional Korean ice sledding.
Spectators can also get a first-hand look at what it's like to live in an igloo‚ at least for a few hours.
The winter wonderland will be open until this Sunday with a number of diverse events and concerts in store that are poised to wow people of all ages.
