The United States has reiterated its stance that it has no plans‚ at the moment‚ to provide food assistance to North Korea.
Speaking to reporters on Monday‚ US state department spokesperson Philip Crowley said Washington has no plans to resume food aid to Pyeongyang at the moment.
This was in response to a question on whether the US is reviewing the possibility of providing aid to the impoverished state.
Adding that the US is‚ however‚ watching the situation in North Korea very closely he stressed that should a request come in for assistance Washington would have particular stipulations that the aid is effectively managed to make sure it reached the intended recipients‚ and not to the elites.
When asked of reports that the US is inteding to offer half million tons of food to North Korea‚ Crowley said he would take the question as to whether the Obama administration is evaluating any plans.
