Just one day after the working-level military talks between South and North Korea ended without any agreements the North Korean military on Thursday vowed to end all dialogue with its southern counterpart.
In a statement carried by its state media the North's delegation claimed that the South is refusing to improve inter-Korean ties and therefore Pyeongyang does not feel the need to carry on with more talks.
The regime accused Seoul of being reluctant to talk with Pyeongyang saying that it is purposely blocking communication and hindering the resumption of the six-party nuclear dialogue.
Meanwhile‚ Seoul's Defense Ministry said South Korea is still open to talks with North Korea‚ but only when the communist regime shows a positive attitude towards the South's proposals.
South Korean delegate Colonel Moon Sang-gyun said on Thursday that high-level inter-Korean talks are still an option‚ but only after the North accepts responsibility for its attacks on the South last year.
Seoul presented this proposal at the two-day working level talks this week‚ however‚ Pyeongyang suggested waiting to discuss the issue until the high-level military meeting.
The communist regime also suggested holding another meeting as early as next Friday‚ while South Korea requested more time for preparation.
