For today's "In depth" segment‚ we are joined by our Ji Myung-kil in the studio to tell us more.

Yes‚ for this week's segment‚ I had the opportunity to look into what is being called‚ "the premium of premium TVs."
Okay from plasmas to LCDs to LEDs what is the OLED all about[Reporter : ] OLED stands for Organic Light Emitting Diode and this technology works by putting energy through certain organic materials that glow these very specific colors‚ which are quite vibrant in OLEDs and they don't need a backlight like LEDs do.
So the color is supposed to be richer.
What else will people immediately notice[Reporter : ] Well as you can see here‚ its hard not to be excited about OLED.
On my left is the LED lit screen and on my right is the OLED screen.
It ticks off all the boxes of what a dream television is supposed to be‚ with an incredible contrast ratio that is 20-percent higher than LEDs.
The real advantage is brighter‚ sharper images LEDs are like tiny light bulbs‚ wheras OLEDs are self light-emitting surfaces.
while using less power than any plasma or LCD TV.
The screen's thickness is surprisingly slimwhat can you tell us about that[Reporter : ] As you can seesince the screen does not require a "backlight‚" the pixels generate their own light.
The result is an impossibly-thin screen that is just four millimeters thickeven thinner than an iPhone.
LG Electronics has confirmed that its super-slim 55-inch OLED TV is only four millimeters thick‚ or in this case‚ thin.
