New data show that‚ the number of malicious codes‚ targeting Android-based smartphones in Korea‚ has drastically increased.
According to Ahnlab‚ known as Korea's most prominent antivirus software firm‚ over two-thousand malwares‚ were found during the period between July to November this year‚ up around 17 times‚ from the figure corresponding January to June.
About 70 percent of those malwares‚ are Trojan-horse type‚ aiming to remotely control the Android devices‚ while the rest 30 percent‚ were spywares known to gather personal information.
Although specific damage cases have not been reported yet‚ as vaccine programs have swiftly responded‚ experts advise Android smartphone users‚ to update their antivirus software to the latest available version.
