And now it's time for our daily Arts & Culture segment with Lee Tae Ho. Today‚ we've got the latest news from the world of K-pop and music. Good afternoon‚ Tae Ho.
Good afternoon‚ Conn-young.
Now‚ earlier this week‚ you gave us a list of international musicians that will be holding concerts this year in Korea. But how about the concerts by Korean musicians?
They'll also be making the rounds. If you want to catch the biggest names in K-pop‚ what better place to do that than right here in Korea.
First up today is one of the biggest names in the K-pop industry.
The five-member boy band Big Bang will be in concert for three days from January 24th to the 26th at Olympic Park in Songpa-gu‚ Seoul.
It was supposed to be a weekend-only concert‚ but the group decided to add additional concerts on the 24th and 25th due to the overwhelming response to the news of their first domestic concert in a year.
This year's concert will focus on each member's repertoire from their solo careers‚ and will feature the signature synergy that has made Big Bang one of the most successful K-pop groups in the last decade.
Also coming up soon is the combination of R&B diva Lena Park and the famed rock band YB.
They'll be performing together for this year's "That Year‚ That Winter" concert on January 25th at Kintex‚ the Korean International Exhibition Center‚ in Ilsan-gu‚ Goyang.
This is the third installment of the highly popular concert series that has become a staple of the winter concert season.
But this year will be different in that it will have a different sound from previous years.
The genres of rock and R&B are coming together‚ compared to previous concerts where Lena Park teamed up with other R&B or ballad acts.
One of the most highly anticipated performances of the concert is sure to be the remake of the group Turbo's hit track "December" from 1997.
And another highly anticipated concert is sure to be the "Reply 1994 Drama Concert" on February 15th at the Kyung Hee University Grand Peace Palace.
"Reply 1994" was the hit drama that set off a trend of regional dialects being in style and a wave of hit songs being remade by current musicians.
The concert is set to feature appearances and performances by Go Ara‚ Jung Woo‚ Dohee and Kim Sung-kyun as well past and present K-pop artists such as The Blue‚ Kim Jo-han‚ 015B‚ Hong Dae Kwang and Hi.Ni.
