You know it's summer when special musical offerings start to bloom throughout the city.
Here at Seoul Namsan Traditional Theater‚ a special lunchtime concert took place on Monday.

Seoul Namsan Traditional Theater] "Many people tend to think Korean traditional music is kind of boring and solemn. But when you enjoy it with a cup of tea during your lunch hour‚ you will feel relaxed on what could be a hectic Monday."
Live gugak‚ or Korean traditional music‚ resonate throughout the theater's courtyard.
Performances ranged from pansori‚ Korean traditional story-singing‚ to daegeum solo‚ played by a large bamboo flute.
Visitors enjoyed the harmony of Korean instruments while sipping on Korean tea and soaking in the sun.
[Interview : Nate Monroe‚ Visitor from US] "I like the fact that they're using different instruments that I haven't seen before‚ they're instruments that we normally don't have in the United States. So‚ it was kind of nice to see something different. It was very interesting from the fact that they were wearing traditional clothing and it was interesting to see from a cultural standpoint‚ maybe‚ how traditional Koreans lived."
One visitor says she loves the peaceful atmosphere the music creates and is certain that the lunchtime concert will create that type of effect for the others in attendance.
[Interview : Lee Yoo-rim‚ Visitor] "I was just passing by Namsangol Hanok Village and heard the sounds of instruments‚ so I stopped by. I loved the performance. I was able to really feel gugak. I also liked having tea while enjoying the concert."
This concert provides opportunities for workers‚ passersby‚ and residents of the capital to get a breath of fresh air and quality entertainment during their lunch hour.
Hopes are that the concert will inspire and unite many people from all different walks of life to find a common ground through great music.
