The team working on it instantly recognized the robot's hidden potentialand made a couple of programming tweaks.
The result‚ a robot that can not only gently pick up an egg without cracking it‚ but can also throw a dart with pin-point accuracy.
This universal gripper will be a cost effective alternative to conventional robotic limbs out in the market today‚ which are more expensive and less efficient.

Researchers in Belgium successfully created a patient-specific 3D-printed titanium lower jaw implant.
A team from BIOMED‚ a medical research unit of Hasselt University used an MRI machine to scan a copy of an 83-year-old lady's lower jawbone.
Another company Xilloc specialists in developing patient-specific implants‚ helped with the design of a model for the implant.
Then‚ a specialized metal-products manufacturer called LayerWise fed this image through their 3D printing system.
And in 3 days‚ a precision laser beam transformed fine titanium powder into the implant.
The operation was a success.
It restored the patient's facial shape and her jaw's full range of motion.
Using traditional microsurgical procedures could have taken more than 20 hours to operate and 4 months before the patient can recover and eat normally.
But with customized jaw implant‚ one can speak‚ eat and swallow right after the operation.
Addis Adaba was the place to be for the finest coffee tasters and sellers from around the world.
Arguably the biggest coffee exhibitions and conferences were held in the Ethiopean capital.
The 3-day meeting comprised of cupping sessions‚ where specially trained tasters check out everything about the various roasts from taste‚ to color to aroma.
