The European Parliament has rejected a deal reached by EU leaders on the next seven-year budget plan.
After a voting session in Strasbourg on Wednesday‚ members of the European Parliament called for further negotiations on the 960 billion U.S. dollar budget to include efforts by governments to settle outstanding budget bills to reduce the risk of a shortfall.
They also demanded more flexibility to move money within the budget so it can serve multiple purposes.
Following further negotiations in the coming weeks‚ the parliament is expected to formally vote on the budget in June or July. Reporter : Lian.yoo@arirang.co.kr
