This is a 16-year-old Amina El-Filali‚ who committed suicide earlier this month‚ after six months of forced marriage to a man who raped her.
Her death sparked a demonstration by hundreds of women outside of the Moroccan Parliament on the capital city of Rabat on Saturday‚ to protest against a legislation that allows rapists to marry their underage female victims.
The sister of the dead girl joined the protest.
[Interview : Hamida Filali‚ Sister of Amina ] "We want a new law. We also want an end to rape in Morocco‚ but if this law is not repealed that would be impossible. We want a law that punishes rapists and protects the rights of Moroccan women."
Although the Moroccan government announced that it will amend the law last week‚ angry women are raising their voices higher‚ calling for scrapping the penal code immediately.
[Interview : Amina Jebabdi‚ Women rights activist] "The suicide of Amina Filali brought to the foreground this question that exists and was known. For a long time‚ we called in the feminist movement to make an end to it‚ but nobody was listening to us. Today‚ this tragedy contributed to awaken the conscience and alert both the public opinion and the citizens."
[Interview : Oum‚ Singer ] "I am here today because I could have been a victim myself like Amina. There could be hundreds of similar cases if we keep quiet."
In Morocco‚ rape is a crime that is punished with a maximum of 20 years of prision.
However‚ the law that these protesters demand to be repealed states that rapists are off the hook‚ if they marry their victims.
In some parts of Morocco‚ rape victims are considered to have dishonored their families‚ and this controversial law is often used by some conservative male judges to preserve the honour of the victim's family.
Local activists say this is a clear violation of women's rights.
