Amidst the increasing suffering of the displaced Japanese‚ Good Neighbors is helping push US$230‚000 worth of financial‚ material and emergency aid to Japan.

Good Neighbors] "Due to the nature of the Japanese not easily willing to receive aid‚ we only provided blankets‚ fresh water and masks. However‚ because conditions were so grave‚ the Japanese needed anything we could donate. So now we are preparing shipments of instant noodles and other processed food."
Good Neighbors aims to be the first on the scene not only in Japan‚ but also elsewhere around the world. Since its first international emergency aid drive to Rwanda in 1994‚ which was also Korea's first such drive‚ Good Neighbors has been involved in war-torn Afghanistan‚ Haiti‚ and others.

Good Neighbors] "Korean culture has traditionally promoted living in groups. Villages would have announcements showing the donations it got during festivals like the Dano festival or the celebration of July 7 on the lunar calendar. Donating and sharing were part of Korean culture‚ but as society modernized‚ many opportunities for donating and sharing disappeared."
Good Neighbors is doing its best to facilitate donating for citizens. It showed that even small donations made through the Internet or the telephone can pile up to become a substantial amount of aid.
In the aftermath of the Korean War‚ Korea was the world's second-poorest nation.
Half a century later‚ Korea became the first nation to transform from an aid-receiving nation to an aid-giving nation.
Good Neighbors has also received acknowledgement from the UN .

Good Neighbors] "Good Neighbors is the only Asian NGO in general consultative status with the UN and covers UN sponsored activities. I am also happy because Good Neighbors represents Korea and East Asia‚ and it can stand among other charities from the West."
A special event took place at a memorial hall in Yongsan‚ Seoul. It was Good Neighbors's 20th anniversary. Helping a nation stand on its own feet is no easy task. Hence‚ today's event holds great significance for Good Neighbors.
