***Eighty-two people shot at in 84 hours The U.S. city of Chicago was the site of a violent July 4th weekend that proved fatal for 14 people.
A list of the suspects included gang members and people with criminal histories. Some incidents involved police fire‚ including the shooting death of two 16-year-old suspects.
Family members said one woman was preparing food on the grill when a drive-by shooter took her life. Most of the victims were young black or Hispanic men in the poorer parts of the city.
Mayor Rahm Emanuel called the rampage "simply unacceptable". The city's police superintendent blamed the weekend bloodshed - in part - to weak gun laws saying there was quote-"Too many guns coming in and too little punishment going out."
