[Reporter : w:slim] Environmental activists are blaming a Japanese-funded dam project for recent flooding in the northern Philippines.
Protesters say the San Roque Dam released too much water too quickly at the height of Typhoon Parma.
The Philippine Senate has launched an investigation.
Activists say the water should have been let out more gradually.
Twenty-one people died from the floods in Pangasinan and estimated damage to crops stands at 4.3 million US dollars.
Survivors recount that the entire area was flooded within 30 minutes.
However officials from the San Roque dam say they had warned the people and local officals of the release of water.
One congressman representing the area said the flood control system's capacity was overburdened at twice its normal levels.
Nearly 40 towns and cities in Pangasinan were flooded.
A new documentary in Hungary shows the untold history of East and West Germans reuniting at Lake Balaton during communism.
For decades east and west Germans who were divided by the walls of communism met privately at Hungary's Lake Balaton.
From a collection of private video footage and interviews of former east and west German citizens a new intermedia exhibition at the Collegium Hungaricum in Berlin shows what many say was the private path towards German reunification.
Under communist rule‚ East Germans were not able to travel to West Germany but they were able to go to Hungary.
West Germans also had access to Hungary so between 1961 to 1989 the lake attracted many cross border gatherings.
One of the more dramatic tales involves one of Catrin an East German woman whose father was part of the secret police.
She falls in love with a West German businessman and during their holiday together in Hungary they decide to arrange a secret escape.
Catrin rides in a hidden compartment in a car and just when she thought she had been caught the door opens and she is freed.
The exhibition will travel around Germany and Hungary until 2010.
If you've ever wanted to see a tapestry woven entirely from spider silk‚ here's your chance.
At the Museum of Natural History in New York City a 4 foot by 11 foot golden tapestry made entirely from the silk of spiders is on display.
It took 80 people.. four years and a million spiders to produce this rare creation.
The last known spider silk fabric was last seen on display in Paris more than a hundred years ago.
Spider silk is stronger than steel and can stretch up to 40 percent of its normal length.
For years scientists have tried to replicate spider silk for use in cables to light-weight bullet-proof vests.
But for Nicholas Godley and Simon Peers they were focused on the challenge of getting the real thing.
Seventy people set out every morning to find female golden orb spiders in Madagascar.
Each spider produced 80 feet of silk while the weaving process took three years to complete.
Godley and Peers said they wanted to create a work of art that's worthy of being hung in a museum.
And they say they are happy they accomplished just that.
