It's Tuesday here in Seoul‚ and in this installment of Today's Talk‚ we have diverse news from around the world ranging from the remarkable to just plain fun.
Our Lee Jeewon is in the studio with me.

LEE JEEWON‚ REPORTER: Good morning‚ Sunhee.
This week's Today's Talk begins in Asia‚ where an auspicious festival took place on Sunday.
But there was also something UN auspicious about the ceremony.
Let's go to the report for details.
The north Indian city of Allahabad was packed with Hindu pilgrims on Sunday‚ who came to take a holy dip in the river Ganges.
As the highlight of the "Makar Sankranti" festival‚ their activity marks the mid-winter movement of the sun from Sagittarius to Capricorn.
The larger Kumbh Mela or Pitcher Festival also takes place at this time.
The faithful gather at the confluence of three major rivers to WASH AWAY their sins.
PARTICIPANT: "It's an excellent feeling and most of the students‚ who are the new generation or youth‚ are also participating in this. We are feeling very great about our culture and religion."
Almost 70 million Hindus take a dip during the festival's 45-day run‚ one of the world's largest regular gatherings.
To prevent stampedes‚ 50-thousand security guards have been deployed this year.
Unfortunately the waters have become polluted by pilgrims' offerings of flowers and food into the river along with industrial waste and sewage pumped out by nearby cities.
MIN SUNHEE‚ ANCHOR: The water does look rather unclean‚ Jeewon.
LEE JEEWON‚ REPORTER: Yes‚ that's why thousands of Hindus planned to boycott ceremonies at the pilgrimage site last week‚ saying this divine place is just too dirty.
MIN SUNHEE‚ ANCHOR: I see.
LEE JEEWON‚ REPORTER: Now‚ moving on‚ I have a question for you and our viewers.
If a pet's health is in danger‚ and the owner doesn't do anything about it‚ do you think others should intervene to help the animal That's a tough question‚ I think it depends on the situation like how bad a shape the animal's in.
MIN SUNHEE‚ ANCHOR: I see. That makes sense.
Our next report is about such a case taken to the extreme.
LEE JEEWON‚ REPORTER: In England‚ two brothers were convicted Friday of abusing their chocolate Lab.
According to animal welfare inspectors‚ Derek Benton aged 62 and his younger brother David let the pooch grow incredibly fat.
INVESTIGATOR: "The dog was so grossly overweight it could barely walk to the point where it could take five or six paces before collapsing on the floor."
Authorities slapped the Benton brothers with a three-year conditional discharge‚ and agreed to return Rusty their dog to them if he was properly cared for.
The owners denied charges of ignoring a vet's advice and neglecting to feed Rusty properly.
THEY blamed the Lab's flab on the dog's arthritis.
RUSTY� OWNER: "He was happy. You know‚ a lot of people are overweight‚ they're happy‚ aren't they Rusty has shed 22 kilos since March when animal welfare officials took him in and put him on a diet.
The dog weighed SEVENTY-THREE kilos at its heaviest.
MIN SUNHEE‚ ANCHOR: Sheesh! That's the weight of an adult man!
LEE JEEWON‚ REPORTER: Exactly.
Now‚ let's turn our attention to a different pet story; this one in the United States.
MIN SUNHEE‚ ANCHOR: A fat cat was caught in Oregon while trying to sneak into a house to steal some pet food.
But the colossal kitty named Hercules got stuck in the cat flap and couldn't break free.
So how did the cat get to roam around the city like that in the first place Hercules hit the road when his owner left the city for six months.
All hope of a reunion was lost until it showed up on the evening news.
The two were reunited last Thursday.
