North Korea's heir-apparent Kim Jong-un reportedly called for tightened measures to prevent the pro-democracy movement in the Middle East from affecting the regime in Pyeongyang.
The Japanese daily Yomiuri Shimbun reported on Thursday that Kim made the demand in order to keep out any influence from the democratic uprisings.
The newspaper adds that Kim told North Korean military officials that the United States and its allies are trying to destroy communism and warned them about the potentially devastating influence Western ideas and cultures could have on the regime.
North Korea is believed to have already banned Internet access to news related to developments in the Middle East and suspended mobile phone rentals for foreigners staying in the country.
